A Goodbye Letter from Elaine Fitzgerald and Diane Hurwit

Dear Florida Dance Followers,
     After many years of offering South Florida’s only comprehensive online social dance calendar for all dance styles, we regret to inform you that we have had to end our free service due to lack of funding. As of September 1, 2024, the FloridaDanceVacations.com website will stay up, but will no longer be monitored, and the public dance information and calendar below will no longer be updated. Please contact the dance organizers or venues directly to confirm public dances. Contact information can be found if you scroll down below the site’s social dance calendar.
     FloridaDanceVacations.com was truly a labor of love to the dance community for our tourists and locals alike. Dance veteran Elaine Fitzgerald created the site in 2014 with a partial State grant from Visit Florida. It allowed out-of-towners coming for beach vacations to know where they could dance any night of the week for every dance style.
     FloridaDanceVacations.com was advertised to dancers nationwide, drawing as many as 30-thousand people to the site each month. Fellow dancer Diane Hurwit was hired to manage the site. She posted public dances, dance venues and special dance events at no charge to anyone in South Florida’s dance industry.
     When Visit Florida lost funding and stopped offering the grant a few years ago, Elaine personally funded FloridaDanceVacations.com. We continued to manage the site and regularly update the dance information. We thought grant funds might become available again, but this has not happened and it is no longer feasible to self-fund this project.
     Elaine and Diane want to thank everyone who contributed their dance information over the years, to benefit the industry and dancers alike. It has truly been our pleasure!
